Continuing our occasional series of getting to know people who work at the Prop Factory, in this blog we're getting out and about with van driver and prop deliverer Russell. Our Senior Account Manager Alex hitched a ride with him on a delivery and asked the questions en route!

How long have you been driving for the Prop Factory?

About four years now. I was advertising for more driving work and [Prop Factory Logistics Manager] Jim got in touch with me. About 70 percent of my driving work is for the Prop Factory - and more in the summer.Which of your skills do you find most useful in your job?

I know London really well, especially Mayfair and Kensington. I used to be a cab driver in London so I know the area well. What's your background, workwise?

I used to be a painter and decorated in London with my brother. Then I was a cab driver. I used to pick up Ant and Dec a lot! What are you doing when you're not driving?

Looking after my grandchildren and foster children. I swim and go to the gym, but I'm also doing up my kitchen at the moment, so that takes up a lot of spare time.Do you have creative skills or hobbies?

DIY and handyman skills - very useful for that kitchen!

Which of our props do you most like to see in the van and why?

It's always good when the Illuminated letters are going out to an event - it's interesting to see what customers have decided to spell out!Do you have any pets?

Three cats. Leo is a completely white ragdoll cat. He's a really lovely looking boy. Dexter is very quiet and just likes to sit in the sun on the windowsill and that's about all he does. Loki is four months old and enjoys chasing the other cats at 3am! He's still just a kitten, but he's already bigger than the other two.How do you take your tea?

Milk, no sugar. As I'm on the road all day it's usually in a travel cup - or occasionally from Costa!

What's your favourite day of the week?

Friday - I've always preferred it to the actual weekend.

If we were making a dream prop just for you, what would you want it to be?

Well, my wife wants me to make an outdoor/indoor cat space with different levels, toys and things to do - a kind of multistory cat theme park.

Do you have a favourite party theme?

You can't go wrong with a 1920s Bugsy Malone theme. Fortunately for me, the Prop Factory would be able to do an excellent job of styling it. You'd need to recreate a gritty New York speakeasy with vintage wooden drinks crates, a few herringbone poseur tables, maybe, then throw in a few gold and black props - and most definitely the speakeasy sign.

Russell.
